The discovery of cane sugar by Christopher Columbus, the slave trade which brought to the Caribbean the work force necessary to harvest it, as well as the mass industrialization of the alcohol just after American prohibition, have all marked the history of Rum. But it is also present in our imaginations through stories of pirates sailing the seven seas, black market gangster during prohibition, tha mafia installed in Havana, or even through Ernest Hemingway, an avid cocktail fan... RUM STORIES retraces the historic and mythological aspects as well as religious, economic and technical of the top consumed alcohol in the world. Rum was mainly developed in the Caribbean islands, as much in the French islands, kingdom of rum farming, as in the Spanish islands, first world leader, before being replaced by American industrial Rum.
